I grew up in a small town, Agartala, capital of the state of Tripura in India (north eastern part). Its a small town
where almost everyone knows every one else, or some zig-zag link of "You are this of that of ..." to someone you already know
does eventually come up.
My wife, Aparajita, is from the same hometown.
School was such a fun.. I studied at Vivekananda Vidyamandir, and then at Netaji Subhash Vidyaniketan.
I was inspired by Swami Vivekananda, and then again my Netaji - "Inspiration comes standard" with both my schools and I was
fortunate enough.
The school education at Agartala, I believe its largely similar even today (10 yrs since I left my school), is more of
private tutions. You may be surprised that I had a private tutor for almost evey subject I studied for my Secondary and
Higher Secondary exams. It was fun, back then, to run to turors house every morning on a bicycle along with other firends.
A typical day would be like Tutor-school-Tutor.. It was not just "all studies and no play" and thats what amazes
me now. I guess I was more effecient back then than I am now.. lol..
I did my graduation from Regional Engineering College, Trichy (R.E.C Trichy), one hell of an experience for me. I shall
talk about it more later.
After college I joined HCL Technologies at Noida (near Delhi, India) and worked with them for 3 years. It was fun
working at HCLT - a virtual extension of my collge life.
I joined Sony Electronics in San Jose, California - it was a new experience all together, a new country and culture with
a very different work culture. By the time I was getting accustomed to all of it, Sony moved me and my group in San Jose to
San Diego.
